We drove from Arras to Mont Saint Michel stopping to visit Omaha Beach Cemetery where the D-day beach landings occurred. The Cemetery is quite moving with the brilliant white marble crosses.

Our first glimpse of Mont Saint Michel, was just as we had imagined and we were able to park on a hilltop beside an ancient working Windmill. The view was impressive.
The next morning we undertook the self-guided tour of the Abbey, the architecture and craftsmanship was amazing and the view was stunning. At 8.00pm we climbed the 350 steps again for the evening show inside the Abbey which is a wonderful symphony of visions, dazzling effects and sounds. A wonderful opportunity for us.
